Cheshire East Policy Documents

Cheshire East has been releasing drafts of policy documents:

  • Local Transport Plan
  • Local Development Framework
  • Details of proposed alterations to A556 when it is bypassed by a new link from the M6 to the M56.

CycleKnutsford have commented on these to ensure the interests of cyclists are addressed (all of these documents can be viewed on the Cheshire East website).

Knutsford Cycling Map is Released!

After many hours work and public consultation we have produced a map which has roads colour coded indicating the level of experience cyclists need. In addition pedestrian shortcuts, which only those living nearby may know about, are marked. There are no designated cycle routes in Knutsford as yet, but this map should allow residents to plan their own safest routes using linking pedestrian paths as a link. It is of course also useful to pedestrians.

It was funded by the Lottery Fund and produced in collaboration with Cheshire East Council, Knutsford Photographic and Ashley
Dumville, and Active Maps.

The map was officially launched at Booths in April and was promoted at the Lions Medieval Fair on May Bank Holiday, where we also gained a number of new members.

The Map is available free of charge from:

  1. Knutsford Library
  2. Bikes ‘N’ Gear – 31 King Street, Knutsford
  3. Knutsford Heritage Centre
  4. Knutsford Leisure Centre
  5. The Toft Road Dental Practice

Very well done to all concerned!

Our own qualified instructor

Congratulations to Committee member Su Russell who has qualified as a Cycle Trainer.

She has started work in a local primary school on a bikeability course. She is incredibly enthusiastic and is talking about organising rides and courses for cycleknutsford.

Lottery Award

Great news!

CycleKnutsford have just been awarded £4,000 from the Big Lottery “Awards for all” fund.

This is for a Knutsford Cycle Map showing all the roads  colour-coded to indicate how safe they are for cyclists. It will be available free and should be ready in the spring.

Thanks to all those members who have helped,
