2018 AGM

The 2018 AGM will be held in the Angel Hotel, King Street, Knutsford. The date is Thursday 22nd November 2018, starting at 7:00pm. There will be two guest speakers to entertain us.

Cycle Knutsford Actions – 2017

1  Cheshire East Cycle Strategy

CycleKnutsford have created a sub-committee to work actively with Cheshire East to contribute the Knutsford sections of the Cycle Strategy. They attended a seminar which had aim encouraging each town to generate their own town cycle routes which would then be coordinated by Cheshire East between towns to ensure they were developed to a consistent standard and integrated into a borough-wide plan to create a ‘Town Cycling Masterplan’. The strategy targets everyday utility cycling; it is felt that it should include objectives for leisure cycling too. A draft map of target routes has been created.

2  Knutsford Neighbourhood Plan (NHP)

CycleKnutsford are seeking right of representation – We have sent a letter to the NHP chairman and to explain that we are a community group not ‘just’ a cycling club. We will continue to seek to input our views for the suitability of the NHP plans for Cyclists and the Cycle Strategy.

3  Roadsigns

Knutsford now has its first ever Cycling Roadsign directing cyclists to Mobberley // Knutsford Station at the junction of King Street and Church Walk (south end of King St) and another on the corner of the Moor, opposite Old Market Place.

The sign indicating “Cycling Prohibited” over the Moor had been erected in error and is to be removed (officially!)

4 Events

We supported highly successful event for xx Knutsford Scout group on Blackhill Lane. The objective was to promote safe cycling with safe route awareness, proper cycle maintenance and a short twilight ride to ensure each cyclist was properly equipped and safe. The Community Police provided a security marking service for the scout’s bikes. A fantastic opportunity to become involved with such a highly motivated group pf youngsters.

5 Other Information

CycleKnutsford does not have a subscription. However, we do suggest that members consider an annual donation of £5 to help with our running costs.

We have organised group rides, maintenance and security marking sessions over the last few years.  Let us know what you would like for the future.  We can organise rides for both the enthusiast and shorter easier rides for people who want something gentler.

Please ensure your bike is always in good working order. Tyres pumped up to the max pressure have a smaller footprint and are less likely to be punctured, please have a puncture repair kit with you.
